White Chocolate Macadamia Cream Cold Brew (Starbucks Copycat)

Jump to Recipe - Print Recipe

Give your coffee a dessert-inspired makeover with my copycat recipe for Starbucks' White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cream Cold Brew recipe. Featuring lightly sweetened macadamia-flavored cold brew topped with an ethereally creamy cloud of nutty white chocolate cold foam and topped with crushed sugar cookies, this baby is certain to put a smile on your face on a warm summer day. 🌰☕️🍫

Coffee and cookies are as delightful a combination as PB&J, Ricky and Lucy, or red wine and chocolate. Honestly, is there anything better than dunking an oatmeal cookie into your first cup of the day? (Don’t judge — they’ve got oatmeal! 😂)

That’s why I love all of Starbucks’ cookie-themed mashups so dearly. I’m looking at you, chocolate hazelnut cookie cold brew and iced sugar cookie almond milk latte! The newest addition to this cookie lovers’ lineup is none other than this frosty, frothy white chocolate macadamia cold brew.

It starts out humble enough — you just sweeten your cold brew with some homemade macadamia nut syrup. But the real trick is adding a thick layer of white chocolate and macadamia cream cold foam and dusting it with toasted cookie crumbles. 😋

Don’t fret, though. Making cold foam to top your favorite iced coffee drinks is really quite simple. The hardest part is measuring things out! So, if you’ve got an extra 5 minutes to spare and a hankering for salty-sweet, nutty, toasty, caramelly, white chocolate coffee magic, give this cold brew lovers' recipe a try!

What is Starbucks’ White Chocolate Macadamia Cream Cold Brew?

If you’re familiar with at least one of Starbucks’ cold foam-topped cold brew drinks, you’ve probably got a pretty good idea of what to expect. (If you’re unacquainted, check out the classics: sweet cream cold brew, chocolate cream cold brew, salted caramel cream cold brew, and for all my PSL-lovin’ babes out there, the pumpkin cream cold brew.)

It starts with a base of macadamia-flavored cold brew topped with creamy cold foam that’s been sweetened with white chocolate syrup and macadamia syrup. For the final flourish, sugar cookie crumbs are sprinkled across the top of the drink. YUM.

    What does it taste like?

If jazzy java and a macadamia nut white chocolate cookie had a liquid baby, this new cold brew would be it. The macadamia brings salty-sweet, buttery, toasty vibes while the white chocolate-infused foam brings rich creaminess, all mixed up with smooth, bold coffee notes. And those sweet sugar cookie crumbles? They’re the jewel in this coffee’s crown.

Why You’ll Love This White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cream Cold Brew Recipe

    • Quick & Easy - 6 ingredients and 5 minutes of effort are all that stand between you and this magnificent macadamia masterpiece.
    • Budget-Friendly - Look, I love Starbucks as much as the next gal. My ever-growing library of Starbucks copycat recipes are proof! But what I don’t love? Spending $5+ on a single coffee, and then having to tip for it. This homemade version tastes just like the real deal but can be made for a fraction of the price!
    • A Breath of Fresh, Tropical Air - As a working mom of two toddlers, routine is the glue that holds our crazy life together. Whenever I can find simple ways to banish the banal, I grab hold and don’t let go! This simple 5-minute recipe fits neatly into my coffee break and helps me take a little mini mind vacation to somewhere warm and sunny. 🌴

    Ingredients Needed

To make the White Chocolate Macadamia Cold Foam, you’ll need:

    • Heavy Cream & Whole Milk - To make cold foam that can hold its shape, we need plenty of fat. Whole milk and double cream are the ticket!
    • White Chocolate Syrup & Macadamia Syrup - Classic cookie flavors reimagined as syrups make it easy to whip into frothy goodness.

To assemble the White Chocolate Macadamia Cream Cold Brew, you’ll also need:

    • Cold Brew Coffee - With less acidity and a more nuanced flavor than conventionally brewed coffee, cold brew is the way to go.
    • Crushed Sugar Cookies - While they are totally optional, they add a nice texture and double down on the cookie flavor we’re after.

    Substitutions

Need to make some changes to your white chocolate macadamia nut coffee? Here are some easy 1-to-1 swaps you can try:

    • Heavy Cream - You *can* use regular whipping cream, but a slightly lower fat content means a less stable cold foam. You’re also welcome to swap in vegan whipping cream or full-fat canned coconut milk that has been well-mixed.
    • Whole Milk - For a dairy-free version, use full-fat oat milk, full-fat soy milk, or full-fat coconut milk. Remember, fat is our friend here!
    • White Chocolate Syrup - Try using regular chocolate sauce for a fun, dark twist.
    • Macadamia Nut Syrup - Hazelnut syrup or pistachio syrup would taste different, but likely quite delicious.
    • Cold Brew Coffee - You are also welcome to use conventional hot-brewed coffee or espresso that you’ve chilled.
    • Crushed Sugar Cookies - Feel free to omit them, or substitute other fun crunchy bits like toffee.

How To Make Macadamia White Chocolate Cream Cold Brew

Step 1: Make the Cold Foam. Add heavy cream, white chocolate syrup, whole milk, and 1 tablespoon of the macadamia syrup to a small glass or container.

Step 2: Froth with a milk frother for 15-30 seconds. Set aside.

Step 3: Add the cold brew coffee to a tall glass.

Step 4: Stir in 1 ½ tablespoons of macadamia nut syrup. Top with ice.

Step 5: Assemble. Pour the macadamia white chocolate cold foam over the sweetened cold brew coffee, then sprinkle with crushed sugar cookies if desired. Drink up!

    Optional Variations & Dietary Adjustments

    • Dairy-Free/Vegan - My white chocolate mocha sauce can easily be made vegan. You can also use any of the vegan substitutes for heavy cream and whole milk that I’ve listed above!
    • Nut-Free - Can’t do nuts? Not to worry. Use sugar cookie syrup instead of a nut-based syrup for a liquid version of a white chocolate chip cookie!
    • Gluten-Free - Either omit the cookie crumbles, use gluten-free cookie crumbles, or use other fun toppers like toffee bits, leftover candied macadamia nuts (from making the macadamia syrup), and/or shaved white chocolate. And, as always, make sure you’re using kitchen best practices to prevent cross-contamination.

    Serving Suggestions

This decadent cold brew coffee drink needs no accompaniments, but it does play well with others. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

    • Ice Cream Float: Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to your cold brew for an irresistible, caffeine-spiked twist on a classic float.
    • Adults-Only After-Dinner Delight: Serve your macadamia white chocolate coffee as a dessert-meets-after-dinner drink with a shot of Bailey's, Kahlua, or coconut rum.
    • Tropical Paradise: Pair your coffee with on-theme desserts like white chocolate macadamia nut scones, coconut mint ice cream, or gingery key lime pie bars for the ultimate coffee break.
    • Breakfast of Champs: Put Starbucks to shame by pairing your cookie-themed cold brew with a short stack of fluffy pancakes topped with white chocolate syrup, toasted coconut flakes, and candied macadamia nuts.

    Recipe Success Tips

    • Think Ahead - If you have your coffee syrups and cold brew ready to go, this Starbucks-inspired macadamia white chocolate cold brew won’t take any longer than brewing a pot of coffee — and it tastes like a COOKIE.
    • Start Cold - Ensuring your cream, milk, and syrups are coming straight from the fridge is the best way to create perfect balance of macadamia nut flavor and sweet chocolate in the fluffy cold foam.
    • Sweeten to Taste - I went with Starbucks-style ratios here, so the cold brew is well-sweetened. If you prefer less sweetness, just dial back how much macadamia syrup you put in the coffee itself. Even if you leave it totally unsweetened, the white chocolate macadamia cream will still bring the yum!
    • Layer Like A Pro - Putting the ice in before adding your cold foam helps keep the layers more distinct. The ice acts like a little raft for the creamy topper, keeping it on top until if/when you’re ready to stir it in!

    FAQs

It sure is! From what I can tell, it will be available at Starbucks till the end of summer 2024. But again, now that you have the secret recipe, it can be yours whenever the craving strikes!

Homemade Macadamia White Chocolate Cream Cold Brew Nutrition

Each serving of this delightful drink comes in at about 350 calories, which is to be expected with all the yummy extras. It's also got 18 grams of fat, thanks to creamy cold foam. It’s no protein powerhouse, offering about 4 grams per serving, but it's a nice little boost.

Sodium-wise, you’re looking at 91 mg per cup, which isn’t too high — a plus if you’re watching your salt intake. If that’s still out of reach for you, consider making no-sodium macadamia syrup by opting for unsalted roasted macadamia nuts.

Finally, carbohydrates are at 45 grams, with 41 of those being grams of sugar. That’s definitely on the sweeter side, but you are welcome to make or use sugar-free versions of the syrups to bring those numbers down.
