Jump to Recipe - Print Recipe

Turn a boring cup of coffee into a dreamy delight with my copycat Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha Creamer recipe. With just 4 simple ingredients and about 10 minutes of effort, you can whip up a week’s worth of sweet, creamy goodness that’s better and better for you than the store-bought stuff!

As a working mom of two littles, coffee is an essential part of my day—several times a day. But I have a little secret: I don’t actually like black coffee. 😬 The solution? Aside from making Starbucks copycat café drinks, homemade coffee creamers like this white mocha creamer are my go-to.

Unlike store-bought versions made with sketchy ingredients like high-oleic soybean oil and gellan gum, my DIY creamers are made with all-natural, easy-to-pronounce ingredients you probably already have on hand. Better yet, my homemade Starbucks white mocha coffee creamer is made with real cream, adding a richness that the bottled kind can’t.

And while I’ll admit that some of the more involved hot coffee drinks and cold brew recipes take some time to assemble, the beauty of this white chocolate mocha creamer is that you make it in one 10-minute spell, then reap the delicious bounty all week long! To all the busy mamas out there, I dedicate this one to you. 😉

    What does it taste like?

If you love ordering a Starbucks white mocha or iced white mocha, you’re going to flip for my white chocolate mocha creamer. It turns your regular cuppa joe into a café-worthy treat! The white chocolate chips add a buttery sweetness that’s silky and rich, not cloying.

A touch of granulated sugar rounds out the flavor, enhancing the white chocolate's natural caramelized notes. And of course, it’s luxuriously creamy thanks to the blend of half & half and heavy cream, with a velvety mouthfeel that lingers—just like your favorite fancy latte, but without the work.

Why You’ll Love This Homemade Coffee Creamer Recipe

    • Quick & Easy - Just 4 basic ingredients and 10 minutes of effort are all you need to make this white mocha delight—no fancy equipment required.
    • All-Natural Indulgence - Most store-bought coffee creamers I’ve encountered are packed to the brim with lab-created ingredients like artificial flavors, preservatives, and highly-processed oils. And get this—they don’t even have any cream in them! Instead, companies mix cheap oils with nonfat milk to fake the richness. My homemade versions are all made with all the real stuff you’d expect and none of the fillers so you can enjoy every sip.
    • One & Done - Make a batch of this easy DIY Starbucks white chocolate mocha creamer on Sunday to keep yourself in sweet, creamy coffee bliss all the way till next weekend. If you make a batch of cold brew coffee while you’re at it, the only thing you’ll need to do in the mornings is pour and stir!

    Ingredients Needed

    • Half & Half - Made of equal parts whole milk and cream, this rich base sets the tone for a superlatively creamy coffee creamer.
    • White Chocolate Chips - An easy way to incorporate sweet, buttery white chocolate flavor into every sip. Make sure to reach for a high-quality brand that lists cocoa butter as a primary ingredient for the best results.
    • Heavy Cream - Also known as double cream across the pond, this is the richest of the rich in the dairy world. It has a minimum milk-fat of 36% for maximum yumminess.
    • Granulated Sugar - Plain white sugar has no discernible flavor other than “sweet,” so you’ll taste the natural milkiness of the dairy and delicate flavor of white chocolate.

    Substitutions

    • Half & Half - As I mentioned above, you can make your own half & half with milk and cream. So, swap in milk for half and increase the amount of cream you use to fill out the rest.
    • White Chocolate Chips - Chopped white chocolate bars will work just as well, though you’ll need to break them up first. You can also experiment with fun twists like blonde chocolate (caramelized white chocolate) or ruby chocolate (which Barry Callebaut says is a 4th natural variety of chocolate alongside dark, milk, and white and has a berry-flavored undertone).
    • Heavy Cream - You’re welcome to use slightly lighter whipping cream, which has a milk-fat of 30-36%.
    • Granulated Sugar - Use an equal amount of pure cane sugar for a less-refined option, or swap in caster/superfine sugar, which is made from smaller granules of granulated sugar.

How To Make Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha Creamer

Step 1: Simmer. Add ½ cup of half & half and white chocolate chips to a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over low heat, stirring continuously to prevent the chocolate from burning or separating.

Step 2: Remove From Heat once the white chocolate has fully melted. Add the remaining ingredients and whisk to combine.

Step 3: Cool & Store. Cool at room temperature for 15 minutes, then transfer to a mason jar and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.

    Optional Variations & Dietary Adjustments

    • Dairy-Free - Swap the half & half and heavy cream with a combo of full-fat oat milk and canned coconut milk or vegan whipping cream for a rich, plant-based version.
    • Reduced-Sugar/Sugar-Free - Replace the granulated sugar with a zero-calorie sweetener like allulose, stevia, or monk fruit. You can also skip the added sugar entirely if your white chocolate is sweet enough. To be fully sugar-free, opt for a sugar-free white chocolate bar.
    • Add Extracts - Stir in a splash of raspberry extract, almond extract, or peppermint extract for seasonal twists. A tiny pinch of sea salt also deepens the flavor beautifully.
    • Tuxedo Creamer - For a bolder mocha-meets-white mocha vibe, use equal parts dark chocolate chips and white chocolate chips.
    • Wintry Blend - Add a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, and/or cardamom to give your creamer a warm, cozy finish—perfect for holiday mornings.
    • Protein Boost - Whisk in some collagen powder or a high-quality vanilla or unflavored protein powder while the creamer is still warm for a sneaky muscle-building upgrade.

    Serving Suggestions

This luscious white chocolate mocha creamer isn’t just for coffee—it’s a little jar of magic you can use in all kinds of ways:

    • Classic Coffee - Stir into your morning brew for an ultra-smooth, sweet, and creamy white chocolate mocha. It pairs beautifully with espresso, hot coffee, cold brew, or iced coffee.
    • Pinkies Up - Stir into a strong black tea or spiced chai for a uniquely sweet twist on your usual tea time.
    • Breakfast Boost - Drizzle over your morning oats or use as the liquid base for overnight oats for added richness and a sweet boost.
    • Gussied-Up Glaze - Warm it slightly and whisk with powdered sugar for a quick glaze on muffins, scones, or cinnamon rolls.
    • Happy Hour - Add a splash to espresso martinis or coffee-based cocktails for a dessert-like finish.

    Recipe Success Tips

    • Use High-Quality White Chocolate Chips - Not all white chocolate is created equal. Look for chips made with real cocoa butter rather than just palm oil or other fillers for the best flavor and texture.
    • Melt Low and Slow - When heating the mixture, use gentle heat and stir frequently to prevent scorching the delicate white chocolate or curdling the cream.
    • Fully melt the chocolate - Stir the creamer until the white chocolate chips are completely dissolved into the cream for the smoothest consistency.
    • Stir Before Serving - Milk solids may float to the top after chilling. Simply stir them back in before using, or skim them off if you prefer an ultra-smooth creamer.
    • Store in a Mason Jar or Airtight Bottle - This white mocha creamer keeps well in the fridge for up to a week. Use a glass jar or pourable bottle with a tight-fitting lid for easy mixing and serving. You can also freeze it for up to 3 months, but the consistency might change a bit upon defrosting.

    FAQs

What is in white chocolate mocha creamer?

It depends! Many store-bought versions are made without any real cream (some are even made without dairy), opting instead for refined oils, artificial flavors, and emulsifiers to create the proper consistency. My homemade white chocolate mocha creamer is simply made with half & half, cream, sugar, and white chocolate.

What does Starbucks use for a white chocolate mocha?

If you were to order one in store, they’d make a mix of espresso, milk, and a thick white chocolate syrup. This copycat Starbucks coffee creamer brings all the white chocolate mocha flavor to your cup, but doesn’t require any barista knowledge or equipment beyond brewing a pot of coffee!

How many calories are in a Starbucks white chocolate mocha creamer?

According to the bottle, there are 40 calories per tablespoon of store-bought Starbucks white chocolate mocha creamer. My serving size is a generous ¼ cup (4 tablespoons), which works out to 43.75 calories a tablespoon. And mine is made without high oleic soybean oil!

Is there a difference between white mocha and white chocolate mocha flavors?

Nope! A white mocha typically refers to a latte sweetened with white chocolate, so “white chocolate mocha” is just a little more specific.

Homemade White Mocha Coffee Creamer Nutrition

With 12 grams of fat and 15 grams of sugar per generous ¼ cup serving, this homemade white chocolate mocha creamer falls squarely into the “splurge” category—but when used in moderation , it can easily fit into a balanced diet. You’ll also get a small amount of protein and calcium from the dairy, which helps soften the blood sugar impact slightly.

As with any creamer, portion size matters. A tablespoon or two can satisfy a sweet craving, letting you stretch the flavor and calories across several cups of java. If you're looking to reduce sugar beyond limiting your portion size, you can try the reduced-sugar or sugar-free variations I list above.

Unlike many store-bought flavored creamers made with hydrogenated oils, artificial flavors, thickeners, and stabilizers, this version is crafted with simple, whole ingredients: real cream, half & half, white chocolate, and a touch of sugar. No mystery additives here—just natural fats and sugars your body recognizes. So, enjoy every better-for-you sip—just do it in moderation!
