It's perfectly creamy, foamy, and cool, bursting with fresh berry flavor and ready in steps so easy you could master them in your sleep. Starbucks is rumored to release a raspberry cold foam recipe later this month, so you know I had to get to the bottom of things. Although the company has confirmed that they are bringing the raspberry syrup back to the menu for a limited time, they have not made an official statement about the arrival of a raspberry cream cold brew. Many baristas (thank you, TikTok!), however, have leaked that it is likely to drop alongside the syrup.

As always, you can count on me for DIY recipes for all Starbucks' drinks (even the new and seasonal releases), and this raspberry cream cold brew is no exception! Creamy, frothy, berry-licious cold foam tops classic, smooth cold brew for a sensational summer treat that I just couldn't keep to myself.

Like other cold foam recipes, this light and creamy, spoonable coffee topper is as easy to make as it is delicious! You only need three common ingredients and less than 2 minutes to elevate your coffee to bona fide barista-level. A recipe so quick and tasty that you can (and should) enjoy it on the daily!

    Let's get sipping, shall we?

    What is Raspberry Cold Foam?

Raspberry cold foam is a frothy, creamy, and berry-flavored drink topper made from frothing raspberry syrup, heavy cream, and milk. Though it usually tops cold brew to make raspberry cream cold brews, it can add panache and a delicious finish to nearly any cold drink, from iced coffee and espresso drinks to iced matcha lattes and chai.

    What Does it Taste Like?

If raspberry ice cream were a coffee topper, this raspberry cream cold brew would be it! It's creamy, cool, and sweet—light, frothy, and perfectly spoonable, but rich and full of raspberry flavor. Spoon it over a glass of cold brew and watch the pink cream slowly streak through the java. Take a sip and savor each balanced, fruity, velvety sip and rich, creamy mouthfeel. It's a one-of-a-kind coffee experience!

Why You'll Love Raspberry Cold Foam

After just one sip, you'll understand why Starbies is being coy about the raspberry cream cold foam's release. This cold foam is one of my favorite cool drink toppers and is well worth the anticipation:

    • Quick and Easy —Three ingredients in three steps? Sign. Me. Up! This creamy cold foam is doable on even the sleepiest early mornings.
    • Fruity and Creamy — Although classics like vanilla cold foam hold a top spot in the coffee canon, berry syrups add variety, intrigue, and flavor to your coffee routine.
    • Very Versatile — Keep it traditional by pouring the cold foam over cold brew, scoop it onto iced chai, or add it to any myriad of other cool drinks, from matcha to espresso martinis!

    Ingredients

An overhead shot of the ingredients needed to make raspberry cold foam.

A short and accessible ingredient list makes this raspberry cold foam one you can easily enjoy on the reg:

Raspberry Syrup: For dreamy, sweet, and juicy raspberry flavor. I recommend homemade syrup whenever possible — it offers superior flavor and is surprisingly easy to make with fresh or frozen berries.

Heavy Cream: Also known as heavy whipping cream, this whips up to a light and airy texture when blended with a milk frother. It also adds a rich creaminess to the foam. For the easiest frothing, use extra cold cream straight from the fridge.

Whole Milk: This keeps the foam light and frothy while cutting the richness just a bit, keeping the foam perfectly scoopable and smooth but not too heavy.

    Substitutions

    • Syrup: Don't have raspberries or a few minutes to make the syrup? You can use pre-made syrup in a pinch.
    • Cream: If needed, substitute 3 tablespoons of half-and-half for the heavy cream and milk. It may not froth as well, but it will still get light and silky.
    • Milk: Substitute soy, full-fat oat, or coconut milk to keep the cold foam creamy but spoonable.

How To Make Raspberry Cold Foam

Your next fav cold foam is mind-blowingly easy, made in just three simple steps!

Step 1: Combine the raspberry syrup, heavy cream, and whole milk in a glass or container.

Step 2: Froth with a milk frother for 10-15 seconds or until frothy.

Step 3: Enjoy! Pour the raspberry cold foam over cold brew, iced chai, or an iced coffee or latte.

    Optional Variations & Dietary Adjustments

    • Dairy-Free and Vegan — Make a dairy-free and vegan cold foam by swapping coconut or dairy-free whipping cream for the heavy cream and coconut or soy milk for the whole milk. Like its dairy counterpart, extra-cold dairy-free whipping cream froths the best.
    • Processed Sugar-Free — Limit the added sugar by making the raspberry syrup with monkfruit or stevia instead of white sugar.
    • Berry-Licious — Swap strawberry syrup to make another seasonal Starbucks copycat drink. Or, use cherry or blueberry syrup!
    • Tea and Coffee Combos — Don't have cold brew? You can scoop this foam onto nearly any cold coffee or tea drink, such as iced coffee, iced mochas or lattes, iced matcha lattes, iced Americanos, iced chai, or even nitro coffee. The options are endless!

    Serving Suggestions

Prep is super simple, leaving us more time to sit back, sip, and enjoy this delightful anytime drink:

    • Morning Wake-Up — Banish bleary eyes and wake your taste buds with a tall glass of cold brew with this sweet and creamy topper.
    • On-the-Go Energy — Busy morning? I got you! Fill your favorite tumbler with cold brew and a dollop of raspberry cold foam for a drink that will power you through.
    • Afternoon Refresh — Bust through mid-afternoon slumps in delicious fashion by adding this to your iced caffeinated drink of choice.
    • Berry Brunchy — Make a large batch of cold foam by combining all the ingredients in a blender and blitzing for 5-15 seconds or until light and frothy. Divide the foam between individual glasses of cold brew for a drink that will be the talk of the summer brunch season.
    • Coffee Cocktail Hour — Looking for a new boozy caffeine kick? Swap 1 ounce of Chambord (or other raspberry liqueur) for the raspberry syrup for higher ABV raspberry cold foam, perfect for topping coffee drinks or espresso martinis!

    Recipe Success Tips

    • Keep the ingredients cold. For the best frothing and cooling, milky texture, pull the extra-cold heavy cream and whole milk from the fridge immediately before using. Warm ingredients don't blend or froth as well.
    • Frothing alternatives. Don't have a frother? No problem! Give the cold foam a quick blitz with an immersion blender, whisk it rapidly with a handheld whisk, or add it to a glass jar with a lid and shake vigorously instead.
    • Sweeten to taste. For a sweeter, more berry-forward flavor, use an extra teaspoon or two of raspberry syrup. For milder sweetness, start with 1 tablespoon of syrup and add more to taste.
    • Make a double batch. It's simple to double this recipe, making it easy to also make a drink for a loved one or friend. Just multiply the ingredients by the desired amount and follow the directions as written.
    • Make to serve. Once frothed, the cold foam doesn't keep its consistency upon storage. Froth the foam to serve and make only the amount you plan to enjoy.

    FAQs

Can I add cold foam to hot drinks?

Yes, you can add cold foam to nearly any drink. The heat from hot coffee drinks (such as French press, drip coffee, or espresso) will cause the foam to melt slightly, but the drinks will still be delicious.

How do I make thicker cold foam?

The secret to thick, cold foam is to use both heavy cream and milk and incorporate air when frothing. Heavy cream will whip up when frothed, being more stable than just milk. Use a milk frother, whisk, or any of my frothing alternatives above to properly work air into the foam. Froth it until thick, creamy, and spoonable, and enjoy immediately!

    Nutritional Info

At 175 calories per serving, many would consider this raspberry cold foam to be a light treat. The majority of the calories come from the heavy cream and raspberry syrup; the two tablespoons of cream contain about 10.5 grams of fat, or close to 100 calories. The raspberry syrup (when made with white sugar) delivers the remaining 70 calories via carbohydrates. Since we're only using 1 tablespoon of whole milk, there is just one gram of protein per serving. The sodium is also very low, coming in at just 33 mg per serving.

Although most balanced diets can accommodate an occasional mildly indulgent treat like this fruity cold foam, it's easy to adapt the recipe to your preferences and dietary needs. To reduce the carbohydrates and the calories by almost half, sweeten the raspberry syrup with monkfruit or stevia. To keep the foam rich without the heaviness of heavy dairy cream, swap coconut or non-dairy whipping cream.
